Bandai Namco Confirms A Cyberattack
Bandai Namco has provided confirmation of a cyberattack currently being investigated. The attack is reported to have occurred on Sunday, July 3rd, 2022, and indicates potential data loss, "there is a possibility that customer information related to the Toys and Hobby Business in Asian regions (excluding Japan) was included in the servers and PCs, and we are currently identifying the status about the existence of leakage, the scope of the damage, and investigating the cause." No technical details of the attack have been released by the company, or the threat actor involved in the incident. However, reports of the company's breach circulated on Tuesday, July 12th, 2022, from vx-underground's Twitter post identifying ALPHV/Blackcat as the ransomware gang responsible for the attack.
